Alderton Associates were engaged to progress the build of a new Medical Centre. In October 2013, planning permission was granted by Chelmsford City Council to design and build a Class D1 Medical Centre; together with separate vehicle and pedestrian access, secondary vehicle link to the adjacent Danbury Mission site and associated parking and landscaping at the land adjacent to the Danbury Mission Evangelical Church. The building was a 1200m2 development, successfully delivered with the programme and to the contract sum.

NEW BUILD MEDICAL FACILITY
The scheme included a new vehicle entrance; a separate cycle and pedestrian entrance; a two-storey replacement Medical Centre replacing the out-dated and over-subscribed Lee House Surgery at Eves Corner in Danbury; a two-storey Autism Unit for eight residents; a vehicle link through to the adjacent Danbury Mission; a private practice centre comprising podiatry, opticians, dental and physiotherapy services.

The scheme was designed to deliver a high quality, modern health facility, while respecting the character of the site and surrounding development. BREEAM ‘Very Good’ was achieved for the project.
