The brief
Ashley House PLC engaged us to progress a new two-storey medical centre at Maldon Road, Danbury, replacing the outdated and over-subscribed Lee House Surgery — with an eight-resident autism unit, a private practice centre (podiatry, opticians, dental and physiotherapy) and a vehicle link to the adjacent Danbury Mission.
Constraints
- A 1,200 m² development on land beside the Danbury Mission Evangelical Church, designed to respect the character of the site and its surroundings
- Planning permission granted by Chelmsford City Council in October 2013 for a Class D1 medical centre with separate vehicle and pedestrian access
- Programme of February 2015 to March 2016
- BREEAM ‘Very Good’ to be achieved
Our role
Architectural support through the developed design and construction phases, project management, CDM and health and safety.
Outputs
- Developed design and construction information
- Project management and programme control
- CDM and health and safety duties
- Progress inspections through to handover
Result
Delivered to programme and to the contract sum, and opened to patients. BREEAM ‘Very Good’ was achieved.
